The Fox Who Feared the Dark
Deep beneath an old oak tree lived a little fox cub named Pip. He was brave all day long, but when the sun went down and his den grew dark, his bushy tail would tremble. 'The dark is too big, and I am too small,' he whispered, pulling his leaf blanket over his nose.
A Tiny Golden Light
One night a tiny golden light floated into the den, blinking softly. 'Hello, I'm Glim, a firefly,' said a small voice. 'Come outside โ the night is the most beautiful time of all, and I will light the way.' Slowly, Pip placed one paw outside, then another.
The Meadow of Gentle Glows
Outside, the meadow shimmered. Pale moths drifted like floating petals, and little mushrooms glowed blue along the path. 'I never knew the night looked like this,' Pip breathed, and his trembling tail grew still.
The Wise Old Owl
On a low branch sat a kind owl with round velvet eyes. 'Look up, little one,' she hooted, and lifted a wide wing to the sky. Above Pip stretched thousands of stars, scattered like silver dust. 'They have been here every night,' she said, 'waiting for you to look.'
Home, Brave and Sleepy
Glim walked Pip all the way home, lighting each gentle step. 'I'm not scared anymore,' Pip yawned. 'The dark isn't empty โ it's full.' He curled up warm and safe, and with the lights of the night watching over him, he drifted into the sweetest dreams.
